Valdelobas 2021 boasts an alluring deep cherry hue that beckons exploration. On the nose, it unfurls a spectrum of aromas with notes of black fruits such as blackberry and blueberry, all complemented by subtle balsamic and toasted nuances thanks to its time in oak. Upon tasting, it presents as powerful and well-structured, with notable acidity and a finish that lingers envelopingly. The 2021 vintage has favoured optimal grape ripening, resulting in a balanced and elegant wine. The combination of ripe fruits and the contribution of the oak adds complexity, making it a highly recommended choice for those seeking intensity and depth in every sip.

About Valdelobas

The names of the plots are not coincidental. They often originate from a place name, a feature of the terrain, or a story told centuries ago... and over time, it became etched into the land. At Valtravieso in the DO Ribera del Duero, this memory is not only respected but becomes the starting point for each wine.

Since the González family took over the winery in 2002, the priority has been to preserve the authenticity of the place and let each landscape speak for itself. Thus, names like La Atalaya—the highest point of the moor—or Valdelobas, that historic "valley of wolves," are not merely evocative labels but real coordinates of origin, identity, and character.

From this approach emerges Valdelobas, a limited production wine that captures the essence of its plot in the estate "La Revilla," in Piñel de Arriba (Valladolid). The tinto fino vineyard, situated at 915 meters altitude, with vines around 25 years old and rooted in limestone soils, offers a natural balance between freshness and structure.

Following traditional cultivation and harvesting at the precise moment of optimal ripeness, a measured vinification takes place, with daily pump-overs and a post-fermentative maceration that adds depth. Afterwards, the wine is refined for about 17 months in fine-grained French oak barrels, mostly of second and third use, with a slight contribution of new wood.

Elegant, profound, and with great aging potential, Valdelobas is a single-vineyard wine that has remained vibrant over time. A limited production that preserves its identity, precisely reflecting the character of its vineyard and the history that defines it.
