About Yamazaki Mizunara 18 Years 100 Anniversary

In the 1940s, the blending team at Suntory ventured into uncharted territory by experimenting with the legendary Japanese Mizunara oak. This timber, notorious for its challenging nature, posed an exhilarating challenge. Under the meticulous guidance of the first-generation master blender, Shinjiro Torii, and the second-generation master blender, Keizo Saji, they embarked on a journey into the unknown. The initial tasting of their endeavors unveiled a spirit with a flavor and aroma that commanded the stage, marking the beginning of a captivating odyssey.

The Mizunara wood, despite its difficulties in handling, imparted unique qualities to the art of distillation, creating a new dimension of flavors and aromas. Suntory had unleashed the magic of Mizunara, a journey that continues to define the distinctive character of their exceptional whiskies.
