About Box 1 bottle Veuve Clicquot Vintage Brut Rosé

Although Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot, daughter of the most influential textile industrialist in Reims, was educated to be the perfect bourgeois wife and mother in 19th-century France, no woman before had managed a company with such significant capital. It is no wonder she is known as the grande dame of champagne. Widowed by a local entrepreneur whose aim was to produce his own wines and sparkling wines and sell them across Europe as luxury products, Clicquot revolutionised the world of champagne. Not only did she save the business by risking her entire inheritance, but she also defied Russian military surveillance that banned the importation of French champagne, to make the leap and conquer the glasses of St. Petersburg. But that was not all. Two innovations definitively established the widow Clicquot as the grande dame of champagne. On one hand, she invented the riddling process, which ensures all sediments settle in the neck of the bottle so that the champagne appears crystal clear, and on the other, she was a pioneer in incorporating a yellow label on her bottles, a nod to the colour of the buildings in St. Petersburg, her main customer. Since her death in 1886, her heirs continued managing the business, and since 1987, it has become part of the powerful LVMH group of exclusive products.

The vineyards of Veuve Clicquot are among the finest "crus" in Champagne. Grands and Premiers Crus under the territorial brand of Madame Clicquot, which include the grape varieties Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. Their Veuve Clicquot Vintage Rosé is a cuvée composed of a base of reserve wines (from 25 to 40%) plus an assemblage of red wines produced and aged in foudres. Following the traditional méthode champenoise, after the second fermentation in the bottle, it remains on average 60 months before disgorgement and dosage.

Like all champagne from the house, Veuve Clicquot Vintage Brut Rosé is a delicate sparkling wine with great aromatic richness. A sophisticated rosé of extended ageing with the elegance and glamour that surrounds the brand of the grande dame of champagne.

2002 The fruit is particularly dense with a surprisingly long end. Perfectly balanced structure and softness, freshness and maturity.

Dense, bright pink with orange flashes.

Intense aromas of red and black fruit (especially cherries Griotte), exalted by spicy (pepper, vanilla). Still balsamic notes (licorice, anise) that give freshness to the wine. This aromatic complexity will increase with time.
