About Supernova Reserva

Supernova Reserva is a barrel-aged red wine made with the Tempranillo variety in the D.O. Ribera del Duero by the Briego winery.

Founded in 1988 by the Hernando brothers in the town of Fompedraza (Valladolid), this winery works to create great wines in the Ribera del Duero denomination. To do this Benito, Gaspar, Javier and Fernando have a total of 77 hectares of the family estate to plant top quality vines and produce world-renowned wines.

Supernova Reserva comes from one of the Hernado family’s best plots. It is called La Nava and is home to vines aged around 30 years old that produce grapes with extraordinary concentration thanks to the temperature contrasts between day and night. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out at the optimum point of ripeness.

Once they reach the winery, the grapes are selected, destemmed and pressed. They then ferment traditionally in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Finally, Supernova Reserva is aged for 18 months in French and American oak barrels.

Supernova Reserva is a 100% Ribera del Duero red wine that is an invitation to enjoy the freshness and silkiness of an aged Tempranillo at an extremely reasonable price.

2014 Supernova Reserva 2014 is a mature red wine with strong aromas of ripe black fruit along with notes of noble woods and hints of liquorice, undergrowth and minerals. On the palate it is warm, pleasant and bulky. The black fruits then reappear with subtle notes of vanilla and cinnamon. It has a lingering and persistent finish.
