Son Vell 2018 is a juicy red wine with aromas of black and red fruits, notes of Mediterranean herbs and hints of undergrowth. On the palate it’s original, fresh and smooth. An easy-to-drink wine with an earthy taste and saline hints.

About Son Vell

Son Vell is an organic, wood-aged red wine made by Son Vell Vinyes i Vi, in Mallorca with the native Callet and Fogoneu varieties.
 
Son Vell Vinyes i  Vi is run by the Sureda family. A father and son team organically cultivate their own vineyards in the Mallorcan town of Manacor. Most of their grapes are sold to other wineries but they keep a small amount to make their own wines, keeping to ancient traditions.  
 
In the vineyard, the Son Vell grapes come from their own vineyards cultivated without using any pesticides, herbicides or any other chemical products. The vineyard is also home to fruit trees, an orchard and sheep. Once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are manually harvested in 12 kg boxes.
 
In the winery, the Son Vell grapes ferment at a controlled temperature with native yeasts. The wine then ages   in used French oak barrels for 12 months. Finally it is bottled without filtering or clarifying.  
 
Staunch defenders of organic agriculture, minimal intervention and local varieties, Son Vell is the result of a long history of Mallorca wine.
