Selvadolce Pigato Rucantu 2021 exhibits a deep, intense yellow hue, reflective of its unfiltered nature. On the nose, it is distinguished by its aromatic profile, where notes of orange peel, honey, saffron, and nuances of Mediterranean scrub intertwine. Hints of pine resin and fresh herbs are also discernible. On the palate, it is a rustic and refreshing wine, with a creamy texture that entices further sipping. Its lively and saline character evokes a day by the coast, brimming with freshness and flavour.

About Selvadolce Pigato Rucantu

In the realm of wine, it is commonplace to encounter tales of wineries where the legacy is passed down from parents to children, generations sharing vineyards and expertise with the same dedication they apply to cultivating the land. Yet occasionally, magic occurs by chance, and those ventures that emerge from life's unexpected turns end up astonishing with their authenticity. Such is the story of Aris Blancardi, a veterinarian with no prior connection to the wine world. Everything changed when he took on the responsibility of the family farm Selvadolce in Liguria, Italy. Among the many challenges, he discovered a beautiful vineyard in need of care. Determined to nurture it in the best way possible, Aris enrolled in courses on biodynamic agriculture to learn and implement practices respectful of the land. What began as just another task on the farm soon evolved into an uncontainable passion. Captivated by the universe of wine, Aris decided to venture into winemaking himself, committing from the outset to natural wines that reflect the essence of his vineyard. The result not only stands out for its great drinkability but also for wines that are pure, mineral, precise, and at the same time, profoundly serious.

Nestled in the picturesque municipality of Bordighera, the estate overlooks the westernmost part of the Ligurian Sea, where the warmth of the Riviera sun is tempered by the constant sea breeze. From here arises Selvadolce Pigato Rucantu, a wine crafted from the estate's oldest vines, planted in 1970. Vines of the indigenous pigato variety are cultivated under biodynamic principles and harvested by hand, in boxes, to ensure only the finest bunches reach the winery. After a brief maceration with the skins, the wine ferments spontaneously, without additives or external interventions. It is aged for at least 21 months on lees in small oak barrels. Finally, it is bottled without filtration or clarification, respecting its purity and most natural expression, and left to rest for a minimum of 6 months in the bottle to achieve its utmost harmony.

Selvadolce Pigato Rucantu is a true expression of the Ligurian terroir. A clear example of how a project born by chance can, with dedication and respect, achieve an authenticity and purity that mirrors the land, the climate, and the passion of its creator.
