About Pierre Girardin Meursault Les Narvaux

Instant success is not very common in the wine industry and even less so if you are young. But taking a closer look at Pierre-Vincent Girardin, a talented 21-year-old who has already surprised us with the quality of his first vintage wines, we discover that wine is in his blood. The thirteenth generation of a Burgundy winemaking family, he has always been surrounded by vines, tractors and barrels, so the seeds of his profession were planted at birth. When his father sold the domain in 2011, he kept the best 4.5 hectares so that his son had somewhere to showcase his potential. After the success of his wines, Pierre started to source from producers who follow the same philosophy and allow him to produce in different terroirs.

His Pierre Girardin Meursault Les Narvaux wine is one of the new discoveries from the AOC Meursault/Côte-d'Or. A white wine made from Chardonnay vines planted in the village of Meursault. The vines are more than 25 years old and lie at an altitude of more than 300 metres above sea level on a stony, clay-limestone soil with a little chalk. The vines are cultivated using environmentally-friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.

The wine is fermented in the winery with native yeasts and then aged in oak barrels (40% new) and 5 to 6 months in steel tanks before being released. The barrels are built with a capacity of 456 litres so that the wood respects the mineral expression of the terroir. The result of this work is Pierre Girardin Meursault Les Narvaux 2019, a deep, energetic and very mineral Chardonnay made by a winemaker with Burgundy DNA.
