About Bonnet Cotton Côte de Brouilly

Bonnet Cotton Côte de Brouilly is a natural monovarietal Gamay red wine from the AOC Côte de Brouilly, in Beaujolais, Burgundy. It is produced by the Pierre Cotton winery.

Pierre Cotton is a young man who was devoted to motorcycle mechanics but decided to become an oenologist when he was 20 years old. He currently cultivates about 5 hectares in one of the areas with the highest growth and prestige in Beaujolais, and vinifies with his family in an old 18th century winery.

The vineyard for Bonnet Cotton Côte de Brouilly is 1 hectare and its average age is around 65 years. Its soils are pink granite and diorite.

Bonnet Cotton Côte de Brouilly is prepared in a traditional way, performing a carbonic semi-maceration by vatting part of the whole vintage, without destemming. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks, and begins spontaneously, since no commercial yeasts are added to the must to perform it. Once vinified, the wine is aged for 8 to 12 months in used 1,400 and 4,200 litre foudres. Pursuing a non-interventionist philosophy in producing Pierre Cotton no sulphites are added during the preparation of its wines.

2016 Pierre Cotton Côte de Brouilly 2016 is a dry and medium-bodied wine with lively aromas of fruit. On the palate it is creamy and fills us with black fruit, minerals and herbs; all over an acidic base note that integrates everything and gives it freshness.
