About Pago de los Capellanes Reserva

Pago de los Capellanes Reserva has already become a classic in Ribera del Duero.

It is a variety of Tinto Fino (tempranillo)  produced by the winery Pedrosa del Duero, Burgos. The grapes come from vineyards planted on clay-limestone soils. The vineyard has a low production, which enables comprehensive monitoring of the quality of the fruit. A cold pre-fermentation is performed for 6 days at a temperature of 14ºC. Fermentation takes place in tanks of 20,000 litres. Fermentation is at a controlled temperature of 28 degrees over 30 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place for 28 days at 20 ° C.
Breeding takes place in new French oak barrels for 18 months, they are racked every six months in the underground cellar which is 10 meters deep. After the aging, it is bottled without filtering.
We recommend decanting an hour before serving. Pago de los Capellanes Reserva is a red wine with a large storage capacity.

2020

Pago de los Capellanes Reserva 2020 captivates us with its refined aromatic spectrum, featuring prominent notes of ripe cherry, blackcurrant, and hints of coconut and vanilla, imparting an aura of sophistication. On the palate, this red wine impresses with its harmony and structure; flavorful and with a nuanced sweetness, it showcases mature tannins that lead to a lengthy and enduring finish. Its acidity is seamlessly integrated, rendering it expansive and delightful on the palate. This wine is, without question, an exemplar of elegance and intricacy.
2017 Pago de los Capellanes Reserva 2017 is a matured red wine with complex and elegant fragrances of ripe red and black fruit such as cherries and blackcurrants accompanied by smoked notes and hints of liquorice. On the palate, it’s balanced, enveloping and very silky. The tannins are round and the finish is long and persistent.
2014 Pago de los Capellanes Reserva 2014 is a mature, complex and elegant red wine. A very good vintage that displays a great balance between the fruit load on the nose and the aromas of aging, ripe red and black fruit with roasted notes, tobacco and spices. It has a majestic entry on the palate, with a distinguished mouthfeel and a lingering and lasting finish.

The taste is a balanced with a very good tour. Powerful ripe tannins. Wonderful acidity.

An intense, fine and complex nose. Ripe fruit, wood, roasted notes, cocoa, liquorice and sweet spices like vanilla.
2010 In the mouth, it shows a great balance, with a tasty mid-palate, sweet for the ripeness of its tannins and at the same time lively due to its acidity. It is an elegant, serious and totally recommendable red wine.

Intense cherry red colour with violet reflections. Very bright, very clean, with high robe. It shows an abundant and dense tear.

Intense nose which shows its fine complexity off. Aromas of ripe fruit stand out, especially cherry, redcurrant and cassis, in harmony with nuances of good woods, spiced hints (vanilla and coconut) in a liquorice background.
2009 Very balanced, tasty and appetising with ripe tannins and lively acidity. This red wine is elegant and serious. 100% recommendable.

Intense picota cherry colour with violet reflections. Very bright, very clean and high robe. Abundant dense tears stain the glass.

This wine is intense and boasts a very fine complexity. Aromas of ripe fruit, especially cherry, redcurrent, cassis well matched with shades of fine woods, spices (vanilla, coconut) and a liquorice background.
2008 A very elegant, serious and extremely nice Spanish wine from Ribera del Duero with an embracing attack, which gives way to abundant notes of very tasty ripe fruit, wrapped in creamy and noble toasted aromas. It shows a silky, very friendly, even sweety mid palate with a very good acidity and well integrated tannins. Long and elegant finish with a great persistence.

Meaty aromas with a good intensity. On its tasty balsamic background, good and elegant toasted notes are noticed along with spices, creamy aromas and marked notes reminiscent of undergrowth, with a great load of ripe and tasty fruit. A harmonious and appealing aromatic set.
