Nicolas Gauffroy, like many other vintners in Burgundy, is the bearer of a family legacy that dates back to 1938. Specifically, he is the third generation to cultivate the family plots and to vinify wines. In this endeavour, he not only draws upon the expertise of his ancestors but also integrates innovative ideas and insights gained from his experiences in other French wine regions before returning to the family estate. This wealth of knowledge has enabled him to inject a burst of modernity and youthful vigour into the family estate, while still capturing the entire tradition and craftsmanship of the AOC Bourgogne Pinot Noir.

This blend of tradition and innovation allows him to offer wines that are vibrant and possess an exceptional ageing potential, such as Nicolas Gauffroy Monthelie 1.er Cru Les Vignes Rondes. This red wine, made from pinot noir, comes from old vines that are cultivated with respect for the land. The grapes are hand-picked with rigorous selection, and then in the winery, they are destemmed and crushed to commence fermentation without any oenological additives, using only indigenous yeasts. Ultimately, the wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling.
