About Montespina Verdejo
Montespina Verdejo is a white wine from the appellation of orgin (D.O) Rueda produced by Avelino Vegas. It is a monovarietal of Verdejo.
The grapes used by Montespina Verdejo originate from old vineyards, nearing a century in age. These small 1 to 3 hectare plots only grow the grape Verdejo.
The harvest is completed after an exhaustive control of the grapes ripeness. Once the grapes have arrived at the winery, they are destemmed and given a light cold maceration to obtain a better intensity of aromas.
The grapes are gently pressed and the must fermented for 20 days at a constant and controlled temperature.
Finally, Montespina Verdajo is aged for a few days with its own lees.
Avelino vegas is a traditional family business that was founded in 1950. Two wineries own the business: Avelino Vegas, that produces Montespina Verdejo, and Bodegas Fuentespina, of the appellation of origin (D.O) Ribera del Duero.
