Tasting notes M. Chapoutier Saint Joseph Le Clos 2025 en Primeur

Red wine Aged in wood Biodynamic. 20 meses en barricas de roble.

M. Chapoutier Saint Joseph Le Clos 2025 is a deep purple red wine with crimson highlights, dense and brilliant, already suggesting a serious and restrained presence in the glass. On the nose, it opens with an initial smoky and mineral nuance, gradually giving way to ripe black fruit, blackcurrant, and a floral violet background, accompanied by fine spices and a fresh vegetal echo that imparts tension. On the palate, it enters with precision and structure, unfolding a silky texture supported by vibrant tannins that envelop the fruit without taming it. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of wild berries, cedar, and a slight floral glimmer that leaves an impression of something profound, sober, and perfectly balanced.

About M. Chapoutier Saint Joseph Le Clos

In the northern part of the Rhône Valley (France), Saint-Joseph rises amidst granite hills as a region that requires no introduction. Here, Maison M. Chapoutier has been shaping a very precise concept of winemaking for over two centuries: interpreting each plot as a unique piece, without unnecessary embellishments, yet with an ambition that is palpable from afar. It is a house that has made rigour an aesthetic and time its natural language.

M. Chapoutier Saint Joseph Le Clos is born in one of those amphitheatre-like vineyards where syrah expresses itself with restrained, almost magnetic intensity. In the glass, it reveals profound, polished dark fruit, with a mineral streak reminiscent of sun-warmed stone and a spiced background that unfolds with measured elegance. The barrel aging imparts volume and texture, not taming the character, but refining its presence into something dense, silky, and perfectly balanced.

Yet there is a detail that elevates the experience beyond the wine: Chapoutier was a pioneer in incorporating braille on all its labels since 1994, a discreet yet powerful gesture that redefines the meaning of luxury. Not as excess, but as inclusion; not as spectacle, but as awareness. A wine that can be read with the hands even before being uncorked.

And in that balance between power and precision, M. Chapoutier Saint Joseph Le Clos moves as a red wine of firm yet elegant presence, one that fills the glass without overwhelming it, leaving a sense of depth that lingers even when the conversation has moved on.
