About Champagne Lanson Le Blanc de Blancs
Not every winery can boast a legacy spanning 250 years. Lanson, one of the most venerable establishments within the AOC Champagne located in the French city of Reims, marked its quarter-millennium in 2010. To commemorate this milestone, the house delved into its cellars to craft a cuvée that would epitomize its globally acclaimed style. Thus was born Champagne Lanson Le Blanc de Blancs, a judicious blend of heritage and innovation that, under the watchful eye of its winemaker Hervé Dantan, is distinguished by its vivacity, freshness, and finesse.
In the creation of Champagne Lanson Le Blanc de Blancs, Champagne Lanson has, as ever, committed to the meticulous selection of grapes from its 125 hectares of estate vineyards, augmented by an additional 500 hectares classified within the AOC Champagne. These vineyards are located in the communes of Avize, Cramant, Oiry, Oger, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a significant portion of which are designated as Premier Cru and Grand Cru. Lanson sets itself apart in the vinification process by eschewing malolactic fermentation, thus preserving the utmost freshness and vitality. The blend comprises vintages from three exceptional years (2003, 2004, and 2005) and subsequently matures in the bottle for five years. This extended aging period surpasses the regulatory requirements, allowing the final product to achieve its full potential.
The result is Champagne Lanson Le Blanc de Blancs, a champagne born from a blend of extraordinary vintages, characterized by a certain complexity yet retaining an undeniable freshness. An achievement that can, undoubtedly, only be realized through the winery's more than 250 years of expertise.
