About La Garnatxa Fosca del Priorat

La Garnatxa Fosca del Priorat is a wine from Priorat which forms part of the Grenache Project in Spain, by the Vintae Group. It is therefore a varietal Grenache.

The grapes are harvested from vineyards over 60 years old on slopes and slate terraces in the mountains of El Molar, Tarragona, between 300 and 400 metres above sea level.

The harvest, which takes place between late September and early October, is done manually.

Once harvested, a process of fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature below 28º. The maceration lasts two weeks and the final aging in French oak barrels lasts 10 months.

The Spanish Grenache Project wants the Grenache grape, relegated to the background for many years, to recover the position it deserves.

Consumers certainly appreciate this variety. This project is led by winemaker Raúl Acha.

The Garnatxa Fosca del Priorat 2017 is a supple red wine brimming with aromas of dark and red berries, floral undertones, and hints of spice. On the palate, it is mineral-driven, sophisticated, and exquisitely graceful. This fruity wine boasts well-rounded tannins and a generous, lingering finish. 
2012 Pleasant, fine and tasty. Fruity flavours are mixed with wood notes. It has good acidity and clean tannins. The finish is nice and wide.

Dark cherry with purple accents. It is neat and sparkling.

Aromas of red and black fruit mixed with spicy and soft toasted notes on a background of mineral notes.

On the palate this wine is pleasant, elegant and flavoursome. Fruity notes appear alongside woody undertones. Good acidity and polished tannins. Long and pleasant aftertaste.



A dark cherry color with purple hues. Clear and bright.



On the nose there are aromas of ripened red and black fruits which are presented alongside spicier notes such as coconut , vanilla, and cocoa. A lightly toasted flavour is evident with a base of minerals. 
2010 Very rich and tasty wine with a wide nice attack that gives way to fleshy notes of fruit and very well balanced wooden aromas. It has a good acidity and polished tannins. Its long finish, leaves a pleasant aftertaste. Elegant and complex, very tasty wine.

Intense and dark ripe cherry colour with purple reflections. Clean and bright wine with abundant thin and dense tears.

Intense aromas with a highly varietal character. Its abundant notes of ripe and juicy red and black fruit are mixed with aromas of spices (coconut, vanilla, cocoa) and soft toasted hints on a background full of mineral notes.
