About Johnnie Walker Blue Label Blended Scotch Whisky

Johnnie Walker Blue Label is the apex of Blended Scotch Whisky making from Johnnie Walker. As part of the rare craft behind whisky making, the Master Blender, Jim Beveridge, hand-picks and skillfully blends various rare whiskies with elusive flavours, from the four corners of Scotland to produce a true masterpiece. Jim blends them in small batches to create this most intense and complex of whiskies.
The story began with John Walker, who bought a grocery store after his father's passing. His business rapidly expanded, to selling everything from writing paper to his own whiskies. John's son, Alexander, continued the family business, striking important commission deals with ship captains to export the family's whisky around the world. He also came up with the whisky's iconic square bottle, which prevented breakage and ensured that more bottles would fit in each box. Alexander finally registered the renowned Johnnie Walker label in 1877.

After Alexander passed away, his sons Alexander II and George took over the business and acquired the Cardhu distillery. Walker's now had three main brands: Old Highland Whisky, Special Old Highland and Extra Special Old Highland. The brothers later renamed their whiskies in reference to their customer's habit of calling them by their coloured labels. In 1908, cartoonist Tom Browne sketches the Striding Man™ on the back of a menu. His drawing went on to become the brand logo. Johnnie Walker's fame has even reached the Royal Family, which has given it various accolades, including the Queen's Award for Export Achievement in 1966. Johnnie Walker is still a supplier of the royal household to this day.

In 1992, Johnnie Walker Blue Label was born. It is a whisky with character due to the rare malts used in its blend. The brand was never discontinued, and now other brands, such as Green Label or Blue Label King George V, have also been added to this whisky collection.
