About Herència Altés Garnatxa

Herència Altés Garnatxa Negra is a red wine made by Herencia Altés in the D.O. Terra Alta. Although the Terra Alta is not yet a well-known region, it is one of the biggest winegrowing regions in Catalonia.
This wine is made 100% with Garnacha Tinta grapes from vineyards in Batea, the town containing over 50% of the D.O.'s vineyards. The soils are rich in clay and limestone, and poor in organic material.
The grapes are harvested manually in boxes and ferment at a controlled temperature of 23-24ºC. The maceration lasts for 6 days. The wine is not clarified. The wine is then aged for 4 months in Austrian oak barrels.
