Henri Bourgeois Sancerre d'Antan

Tasting notes Henri Bourgeois Sancerre d'Antan 2022
White wine Organic.
Henri Bourgeois Sancerre d'Antan 2022 is a white wine that envelops us in a fresh and delicate aroma, where lime blossom and verbena give way to a whisper of minerality, akin to a river caressing the stone. On the palate, it unfolds a vibrant harmony: fresh notes of grapefruit intertwine with almonds and a floral hint of hawthorn, while vanilla, meringue, and coconut, imparted by the oak barrels, lend a delicate smoothness. Its structure is powerful, with a bold onset, maintaining the characteristic freshness of a flint Sancerre. An intense wine, full of character, leaving a lasting impression.

About Henri Bourgeois Sancerre d'Antan
There are wines that not only evoke a place but also a time. Henri Bourgeois Sancerre d'Antan, with "d'Antan" in French meaning "of yesteryear," is an invitation to journey into the past, when wine was crafted with patience, respect, and a profound connection to the land. This white wine from Sancerre (France) embodies that spirit not only in name but in every sip: a living tribute to tradition, bottled in the heart of the Loire.
The story of the Bourgeois family is also the story of a region. For ten generations, this lineage of winemakers has made Chavignol, in the prestigious Sancerre, their home and raison d'être. Henri Bourgeois marked a turning point in the 1950s by betting on his vineyards when the area had yet to gain its current acclaim. Since then, his descendants have upheld the legacy, blending tradition with impeccable expertise that honours the environment and reveals the richness of each terroir. Henri Bourgeois Sancerre d'Antan is born from old sauvignon blanc vines cultivated on flint-rich soils, alongside the Loire River. These plots are worked with naturally low yields and a respectful philosophy: cover crops between the rows, organic fertilisation, and minimal intervention.
Vinification is carried out using ancestral methods: gentle pressing after harvest, fermentation in oak barrels (a quarter of which are new), and ageing on fine lees for 12 months. It is neither clarified nor filtered before bottling, and the entire process is attuned to the rhythm of the lunar cycles. After bottling, the wine rests for 6 to 12 months in the cellar before being released to the market.
The result is an elegant and profound white wine that is appreciated for both its finesse and authenticity, ideal for pairing with seafood, goat cheese, or simply a special afternoon. Henri Bourgeois Sancerre d'Antan is an experience that connects with the soul of a vineyard, a family, a history.
