Exedra Blanc is an organic white wine made from the Garnacha Blanca variety in the D.O. Pla del Bages, in Catalonia (Spain) by Bodegas Puiggròs.
Bodegas Puiggròs was set up with the aim of producing unique wines using native varieties on the family estate that dates back to 1843. Located in Ódena, about 50km from Barcelona, in 2008 the owners renovated the farmhouse and created a small winery to produce high-quality, elegant and distinguished wines.
Exedra Blanc comes from vines lying 650 metres above sea level and planted in calcareous, mineral and gypsum soils. They are cultivated using ecological agriculture and no pesticides, herbicides or any other chemical products that could harm the natural balance of the terroir. The grapes are harvested manually and placed in 10 kg boxes.
In the winery, once the Exedra Blanc grapes have been pressed, the resulting must undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in clay amphoras and stainless steel tanks for 10 months. Finally the wine is bottled without being filtered.
Exedra Blanc is a fresh and pleasant wine that is also elegant and complex. This wine is vinified in an amphora to enhance the variety’s characteristics and the essence of the terroir.
