Every change opens new paths, and thus, when Michel Rey moved with his wife Eve to Vergisson, in Mâconnais (Burgundy) in 1988 to work as a vineyard manager for a local winemaker, he discovered the beautiful and extensive wine-growing areas hidden behind this charming village. Driven by their desire to learn and their dedication, they gradually began to save and acquire small but select vineyards, thus initiating their own project Eve & Michel Rey. In total, they own 4.5 hectares, allowing them to work meticulously by hand, without the use of insecticides or pesticides. As a result, they have quickly become true artisans, crafting vinous masterpieces with four hands.
One of these masterpieces, Eve & Michel Rey Pouilly-Fuissé Aux Charmes, is a white wine from vineyards they own in Pouilly-Fuisse. Vines over 50 years old of chardonnay planted on soil rich in limestone and clay. They work organically, and the harvest is manual with strict selection in the vineyard. In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed, and the obtained must ferments with native yeasts at controlled temperatures. Afterwards, the wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels before bottling.
With each bottle of Eve & Michel Rey Pouilly-Fuissé Aux Charmes, the Reys invite wine lovers to enjoy a sensory experience that celebrates the wine-making tradition of Burgundy and the artisanal approach they have adopted. Thus, their journey has not only transformed their lives but has also enriched the wine landscape of the region.
