About Ettore Germano Barolo Cerretta DOCG

Did you know that the Cerretta hill, one of the most coveted gems of the Langhe (Piedmont, Italy), harbours secrets that only the finest Barolos can reveal? This location, situated in the northern part of Serralunga d'Alba, unfolds with a southeast exposure, making it an ideal place for cultivating nebbiolo, the red grape that gives life to Ettore Germano Barolo Cerretta DOCG.
 
At an altitude of 350-400 metres above sea level, Cerretta is distinguished by its calcareous soil, a legacy of the fossil-rich marls of Sant'Agata, which endows the wine with a robust structure and impressive longevity. The Germano family works on 6 of the 40 hectares that comprise this area, where the oldest vineyards, averaging 50 years, are the result of Ettore Germano's meticulous work, having carefully selected the finest vines to perpetuate this unique wine.
 
Ettore Germano Barolo Cerretta DOCG is crafted from these old vines, whose grapes are harvested with great care and attention. The resulting wine is aged in oak barrels of various ages for approximately 18 to 24 months, depending on the vintage. Finally, the wine rests in the bottle for a few months before being released to the market.
 
The result is a red wine of profound colour and aromatic complexity that envelops the palate with its elegance and power. Each bottle reflects the character of the terroir, with notes of ripe fruits, spices, and a subtle minerality that transports you directly to the hill where it was born.
