About Emmanuel Darnaud Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes 2021
Every grand journey begins with a mentor. In the case of Emmanuel Darnaud, that mentor was his father-in-law: Bernard Faurie, a mythical figure of Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, a living legend of the northern Rhône. With him, Emmanuel understood that viticulture is not merely a technical matter: it is about listening, patience, and a profound fidelity to the soul of the terroir. This school of precision and absolute respect for the land is what now propels him as one of the most solid "rising stars" of the northern Rhône.
This influence is clearly perceived in Emmanuel Darnaud Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chêne. There are no artifices here; just pure syrah, born from a terroir of glacial alluvium and laminated pebbles, with vines ranging from 25 to 60 years old in the AOC Crozes-Hermitage. The lands are worked by hand, as tradition dictates, and each plot is vinified separately in wooden or concrete vats, before ageing for about 15 months in demi-muids or barrels. Depending on the vintage, a percentage of the clusters are incorporated whole, adding structure and character.
Emmanuel Darnaud Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes is a precise, vibrant wine, combining energy and elegance with an honest expression of the terroir. It is a full confirmation that Emmanuel Darnaud is not just a promise, but a palpable reality of the northern Rhône. A "rising star" not due to fashion, but because of a way of winemaking that looks to the future with roots firmly grounded in tradition.
