About Elalba de Emilio Moro
Dawn is the first light of day. Dawn signifies a new beginning. A fresh start. A new chapter to be penned. Dawn is both the beginning and the end, where everything commences and concludes. Elalba de Emilio Moro is the inaugural rosé from this winery. A whole new opportunity.
Not so much in quantity as in quality, Elalba de Emilio Moro heralds the start of something monumental. With a highly limited production —only about 4,800 bottles will be produced—the crafting of this new rosé marks a fresh starting point for this century-old winery in Valladolid, located in Pesquera del Duero, within Castilla y León. Far from exhausting themselves or stagnating in the usual, the third generation of this family business, under the auspices of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, is venturing into new creations. On this occasion, with Elalba de Emilio Moro, they have chosen to produce a rosé that blends both white and red grape varieties (such as albillo and tempranillo), harvested on the very day of its production. From the outset, the journey of both grape types is intertwined, working in tandem both in the vineyard and the winery. For Emilio Moro, the harvest is the most crucial time of the year, where the fruits of months of labour are reaped. In late August and early September, these wineries conduct sampling and chemical analyses to determine the optimal ripeness of the berries and clusters. Once a harvest date is selected, the work begins! The grapes are picked, always ensuring they arrive at the winery in the best possible condition.
In the production of Elalba de Emilio Moro, both tempranillo and albillo are processed and handled together, passing through the destemmer (where the grapes are separated from the stalk) and the crusher. From here, Elalba de Emilio Moro is pressed, yielding the must for fermentation. The first batch of this juice will be transferred into stainless steel tanks where Elalba de Emilio Moro will undergo fermentation for about 15 days. Finally, Elalba de Emilio Moro is bottled and released for sale, with no additional time spent in the winery.
Cheers to new beginnings! Cheers to Elalba de Emilio Moro!

2022 | Elalba de Emilio Moro 2022 is a fresh, very pale salmon-coloured rosé that is elegant, subtle and classy. The nose is very intense, with notes of red fruit (strawberries, cherries) and stone fruit. The palate is floral and mineral without losing freshness. Light and balanced. Extremely refreshing. |
