About Dominio del Pidio Tinto
Dominio del Pidio Tinto is a wood-aged red wine made with the Tinto Fino and Albillo varieties by Cillar de Silos in the D.O. Ribera del Duero in Castilla y León, Spain.
Created by Cillar de Silos, the Dominio del Pidio project was set up by the Aragón brothers in the old 16th century winemaking area of Quintana del Pidio. Their aim was to revive a one hundred year old legacy with three wines made from small plots with old vines and fermenting in cement and wood.
Dominio del Pidio Tinto comes from old vineyards located in Quintana del Pidio. These are old vines planted on loamy-clay-sandy soils, at an average altitude of 890 metres above sea level. They are cultivated using organic agriculture with biodynamic treatments and the yield is limited.
In the winery, the Dominio del Pidio Tinto grapes ferment spontaneously with native yeasts in cement tanks. The wine then ages for 15 months in 228- and 500-litre French oak barrels.
The Dominio del Pidio Tinto wine is born in a town with an astonishing wine-growing history and one that reflects the Ribera del Duero essence.
2018 | Dominio del Pidio Tinto 2018 is a richly concentrated red wine. Olfactorily, it is fruity and intricate, exuding a vibrant expression with nuances of spices, minerals, and hints of red and black fruit intermingled with wild herbs. On the palate, it is succulent and well-defined, exhibiting both elegance and vivacity, with smooth, velvety tannins. |
