About Domenico Clerico Barbera d'Alba Trevigne

In 1976, because of health problems, Domenico Clerico’s father asked him if he wanted to take on his work on a small estate of about 4.5 hectares located in Monforte d'Alba, in the heart of Langhe (Piedmont). And without wasting any time, that is how he and his wife Juliana started their great adventure. Realising that growing grapes and selling them was not at all profitable, they decided to go one step further and make their own wines. By establishing an intense bond with the land to understand the needs of the vines throughout the year, they have become one of the driving forces behind promoting Langhe’s wines across the world and, together with other producers of Barolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Barbaresco, Moscato and Roero, they are bringing about out a real revolution in the wine world.

One of their most prized wines is Domenico Clerico Barbera d'Alba Trevigne, a red wine made from the native Barbera variety. Grapes from 3 hectares of one of the largest crus in Monforte, known as Ginestra, and cultivated using respectful agriculture. In the winery, the grapes ferment with the skins for 10-14 days in stainless steel tanks and then the wine is aged for 16 months, 50% in French oak barrels and the other 50% in large barrels.

Based on the belief that the quality of the vines is the only factor that determines the potential of a wine, Domenico Clerico Barbera d'Alba Trevigne is a clear example of the authentic D.O.C. Barbera d'Alba expression. A smooth, warm and long-lasting classic.

2018

Domenico Clerico Barbera d'Alba Trevigne 2018 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe black fruits accompanied by spicy notes. The palate is warm, savoury and astringent. A wine with good balance, fresh acidity and an intense and persistent finish.
