A similar phenomenon is occurring with Domaine du Petit Clocher. For decades, this historic winery in Cléré-sur-Layon, in the Loire, was primarily known for its red wines, a faithful reflection of its terroir and the Denis family tradition. However, upon reaching the third generation, Le Petit Clocher has decided to explore new horizons, resolutely committing to the production of whites and rosés, while never abandoning the identity and quality that have defined its reds.

The estate, located in Haut-Layon near Saumur, stretches across slopes shaped by the Layon River, at a unique crossroads of the Armorican Basin, the Paris Basin, and the Thouet Valley, a terroir that imparts freshness, complexity, and balance to all the wines of the Domaine. For a century, the Denis family has adhered to the same philosophy: respect for the land, dedication to craftsmanship, and a passion for creating authentic and vibrant wines, a genuine expression of their family legacy.

Domaine du Petit Clocher Sauvignon Blanc perfectly embodies this spirit of reinvention. A sauvignon blanc born from degraded schist soils and crafted with hand harvesting, essential for protecting the must from oxidation and preserving its full aromatic complexity. After a 24-hour skin maceration with temperature control, the wine ferments slowly at 14°C for 2 weeks and undergoes a brief aging in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
