About Diez-Caballero Crianza

Diez-Caballero Crianza is a red wine produced by the Diez-Caballero winery in the town of Elciego (Álava), within the D.O.Ca. Rioja region.

Diez-Caballero is a small family-run winery with a long-standing tradition in the production of bulk wines, until 1979 when Victoria Cañas, along with her husband, decided to shift focus and begin producing their wines with the intention of selling them bottled.

Currently, the winemaking is overseen by their two children, Antonio and Victoria Diez-Caballero. They manage 25 hectares of vineyards divided into various plots, all situated around Elciego, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. The winery seamlessly integrates modern technology with a building steeped in history. The result is honest wines that capture the essence of this splendid region.

Diez-Caballero Crianza is crafted from Tempranillo grapes sourced from their own vineyards, over 80 years old, located on clay-limestone soils in the Elciego area.

After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place in concrete tanks, with an extended maceration period. Diez-Caballero Crianza spends at least one year in French oak barrels and another year aging in the bottle.

Diez-Caballero Crianza 2019 is a richly concentrated red, boasting a cherry hue with purplish highlights. The bouquet is intensely fruity, featuring red berry nuances interlaced with spice and toasted notes. On the palate, it is flavorsome. Harmoniously balanced, it possesses a delightfully robust and palatable acidity.

Diez-Caballero Crianza 2018 is a supple red wine brimming with aromas of dark berries, toasted undertones, and spicy hints. On the palate, the fruit is exquisitely melded with the oak. A succulent, flavorful, and refined wine.
2015 Diez-Caballero Crianza 2015 Diez-Caballero Crianza 2015 is a deep, silky and elegant wine. This magnificent vintage displays all the character of its variety with frankness, in perfect harmony with the notes of aging. Distinguished on the nose, the aromas of ripe red and black fruit stand out with subtle toasted notes of aging. On the palate it is pleasant, with a certain volume and a fresh and lingering finish.
