About Château Pontet-Canet

Château Pontet-Canet is a wood-aged red wine made by Château Pontet-Canet from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot red varieties in the AOC Pauillac, Bordeaux.
 
Château Pontet-Canet is one of the largest wine estates in the Médoc which, over the course of two centuries, has passed through several winegrowing families. The Tesseron family are the current owners and been there since 1975. Today, Alfred Tesseron and his niece Melanie (daughter of his brother Gérard), are in charge of managing the winery, producing legendary Médoc red wines.
 
Château Pontet-Canet comes from one of the most prestigious winegrowing areas in the world. Respectful agriculture is used alongside organic treatments to recover all the richness and identity of the terroir. A great soil to achieve an energetic, elegant and very seductive Pinot Noir.
 
Once the grapes have been harvested and selected by hand, the vinification process at Château Pontet-Canet is carried out with minimal intervention. This begins with a spontaneous maceration and fermentation with native yeasts and ends with the wine aging in different tanks. Some of the wine is aged in new French oak barrels, partly in 2-year-old barrels and the rest in cement amphorae for 16 months.

2016 Château Pontet-Canet 2016 is a richly concentrated red wine exuding intricate aromas of ripe black fruit, sweet spice undertones, hints of oak, and nuances of potpourri.
