About Château Joanin Bécot

Château Joanin Bécot is a wood-aged red wine made by Château Joanin Bécot with the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties in the AOC Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux, in Bordeaux (France).
 
The Becot family bought the Château Joanin Bécot estate in 2001 for its unique terroir in one of the highest elevations along the Gironde in Cotes de Castillon. They have a total of 12 hectares of vineyards overseen by Juliette Becot, owner and winemaker, and who takes care of her vineyards like a garden. 
 
Château Joanin Bécot comes from a vineyard with clay and limestone soils located in Cotes de Bordeaux. The vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the density of the vineyard is limited to 5,200 vines per hectare. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
 
In the winery, the Château Joanin Bécot grapes undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration for 4 days before alcoholic fermentation. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels and then the wine is runoff by gravity into 65% new French oak barrels for an average of 18 months. 
 
With an eye-catching pink capsule on the bottle, Château Joanin Bécot is a modern and refined wine. A fruity red with a well-integrated touch of oak.

Château Joanin Bécot 2016 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and raspberry, notes of undergrowth and hints of menthol. On the palate it is firm and slightly sweet with a subtle power. This wine is medium to full bodied, very fruity, with finely sharp tannins and a fragrant finish.
