About Casa Balaguer Tinto

When a project changes hands, some choose to make a complete turnaround, while others, conversely, take advantage of the good already in progress. This is precisely what Andrés Carull, Marta Ribera, and the family of Bodega Vinessens did in 2017, when they took over Finca Balaguer. Continuing the vision initiated in 2000 by the Alicante winemaker Rafa Bernabé Aguilar, they not only preserve the essence of the project but also breathe new life into it by updating the labels and embracing natural tones, animals, and nature. This is a true reflection of their philosophy of respecting the environment and the vineyard. A 50-hectare estate located in Villena, Alicante (Valencian Community), which also houses the winery, and where diverse plots and soil types allow for the production of wines with character and personality.

Casa Balaguer Tinto is a perfect example. An organic estate wine crafted from five traditional red varieties that have been revived: monastrell, garnacha peluda, miguel del arcos, valencia, and tortosí. Each variety is fermented and matured separately in different materials—wood, clay, cement, glass, and stainless steel—and only at the end are they blended for bottling, creating a wine with complexity, balance, and a clear reflection of the estate's terroir.

Casa Balaguer Tinto demonstrates that honoring tradition is not at odds with innovation. Each bottle is a tribute to the land, nature, and, of course, the sun and the Mediterranean breeze.

On the nose, it unveils a captivating blend of plum aromas, accompanied by herbal notes of lavender and thyme that evoke Mediterranean landscapes. Its entry on the palate is refreshing, with a balanced acidity that imparts liveliness. The structure is medium, allowing each sip to be pleasant and fluid, while concluding with a delicate finish that leaves a lasting impression. This wine is ideal for those seeking a light and fruity option, perfect for indulging in and embracing its authentic personality.
