About Ataulfos
Jiménez-Landi Ataulfos is a red wine from D.O. Méntrida produced by the winery Jiménez-Landi. It is a single-variety wine made with Grenache.
Jiménez-Landi Ataulfos takes its name from the plot where the grapes come from. It is a 60-year-old vineyard planted in vase-shape with one and a half hectares.
The soils are sandy of silicon origin. The plots are located at an altitude of 830 metres and the climate of the area has continental and Mediterranean influences. The viticulture carried out is organic.
The harvest of the grape bunches used in Jiménez-Landi Ataulfos is manual and the grapes are taken to the winery in small boxes to prevent them from breaking.
Once they arrive at the winery and without destemming, they go through alcoholic fermentation in barrels for 35 days. Then, the malolactic fermentation takes place in the same containers.
Lastly, Jiménez-Landi Ataulfos rests for 20 months in French oak barrels of 500 to 3,000 litres capacity. This wine is bottled without being clarified, filtered, or stabilised by cold.

2016 | Jiménez-Landi Ataulfos 2016 is an intense, balanced and easy to drink red wine. A great vintage of this Grenache, which shows us all its personality and the character of the terroir with a very fine minerality. Ripe red fruit with floral notes and a balsamic touch. | |
2013 | Harmoniously balanced, it evokes memories of ripe fruit intermingled with subtle floral nuances. An enticing cherry red hue with a medium-light depth. Balsamic touches and floral notes are complemented by mineral undertones. |
|
2010 | Good attack and powerful while pleasant mid palate. This red wine stands out for its balance between its ripe and soft tannins and an acidity that provides it with plenty of life. Long and persistent finish. Dense wine with a shiny cherry colour. In the nose clean aromas with a marked intensity are noticed, which become more expressive as they get aerated. The aromas of ripe red and black fruit, blueberries, plums and figs are released along with balsamic notes and an interesting mineral background. |
