About Albamar O Esteiro Espadeiro

Albamar O Esteiro Espadeiro is a red wine produced by Bodegas Albamar in Cambados (Pontevedra), D.O.Rías Baixas.

 

Bodegas Albamar is a family-run winery that started to make wines in the 90s. However, it was not until 2006 that Xurxo Alba Padín, one of the sons, was appointed as the head of the winery, renaming it Albamar.

The vineyard of Bodegas Albamar is located in Valle de Salnés, next to the mouth of the Umía river. Thanks to their proximity to the sea, the vines are caressed by the gentle sea breeze, giving their wines a very special character.

Bodegas Albamar carry out a winemaking process that is as natural as it can be. They make their wines with respect, searching for a classical wine profile from the area (sharp, Atlantic and very mineral wines). From the most unique plots they make wines with more character. Wines that reflect all the characteristics of the terroir and of the variety.

 

Albamar O Esteiro Espadeiro is a wine made from Espadeiro, from small old vineyards distributed throughout Valle de Salnés.

Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they go through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts, macerating for about three weeks. This wine is aged in French oak barrels for 8 months. It is bottled without filtering or clarifying.

2016 Albamar O Esteiro Espadeiro 2016 is an expressive, fresh and extremely Atlantic wine. This vintage is a fantastic opportunity to taste the particularities of this scarce grape variety that is normally used mixed with others.
