Aiurri Salas 2021 is a red wine distinguished by its subtlety and a hint of spice. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe blackberries, complemented by notes of menthol, basil leaves, and bay leaf, intricately woven with a spicy profile. On the palate, it presents taut, powdery tannins, with a refined structure and a robust body. This Rioja exhibits a balance between ripeness and freshness, delivering a pleasant and concentrated experience with every sip.

About Aiurri Salas

Alma Carraovejas, a renowned winemaking project in Spain, possesses this very skill: it knows like no other how to find the most exceptional terroirs. Having crafted some of the most prestigious wines from Ribera del Duero and Ribeiro, the winery now ventures into a new vinicultural paradise: Rioja Alavesa.

This new project, Aiurri, which means authentic in Basque, is born with the mission of capturing the pure essence of the land, its history, and its unique character. Aiurri Salas is one of its remarkable achievements. This wine hails from a 2.6-hectare plot named Salas in the picturesque village of Leza, nestled at the foot of the Toloño mountain range, one of the most distinctive areas of Rioja Alavesa. The vineyard, nearly a century old, is cultivated organically, respecting the natural balance of the land to the fullest. Comprising primarily tempranillo, graciano, garnacha, and other white varieties, with viura being the most prominent, its vinification is carried out by gravity, with spontaneous fermentations and gentle extractions that ensure the vineyard's finest expression. Finally, the aging process takes place over 18 months in cement amphorae and French oak barrels, imparting the wine with a delightful complexity and a perfect integration of its aromas and flavours.
