Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 2019 is a complex red wine with aromas reminiscent of wild strawberries, plums and blackberries accompanied by floral notes, balsamic nuances, hints of liquorice and woody notes of juniper and sandalwood. On the palate, it reveals elegance and complexity through a great fruity presence enveloped by fine tannins and topped by a long and pleasant palate. Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial is a red wine produced in the designation DOP Abadía Retuerta by the winery, Abadía Retuerta. Produced from the varieties: Tempranillo (75%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Syrah (10%); planted at an altitude of 850m above sea level.

The grapes are that produce Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial originate from vineyards located in the town of Sardón de Duero, in Valladolid.

The estate, property of the winery, carries the same name: Abadía Retuerta. The vines grow at an altitude of 850m, with an average age of 20 years of age.

The climate is mostly continental, winters are usually cold and the summers are hot. The harvest is completed choosing only the highest quality grapes.

After the grapes are transported to the winery, they undergo their first process of fermentation in small stainless steel vats. A subsequent malolactic fermentation for the must of Abadía Reteuerta Selección Especial which is also performed in stainless steel vats.

The last stage before being bottled, Abadía Reteuerta Selección Especial is aged for 13 months in French and American oak barrels.

Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 2019 is a complex red wine with aromas reminiscent of wild strawberries, plums and blackberries accompanied by floral notes, balsamic nuances, hints of liquorice and woody notes of juniper and sandalwood. On the palate, it reveals elegance and complexity through a great fruity presence enveloped by fine tannins and topped by a long and pleasant palate. A round and elegant red wine with excellent aging potential.

Bright and intense red in colour, Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 2018 is a young, fresh, smooth and well-balanced red wine. The nose is clean and intense, with complex aromas of blackberry, red plum, figs, flowers and spices. The palate is full, vibrant, fresh and very smooth. Fine tannins. Long and persistent finish.

Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 2016 is a red wine with fruity aromas on the nose with hints of red fruits accompanied by cedar notes and toasted touches from its aging. On the palate it has a pleasant but well structured entrance, with a flavoursome and expressive mid-palate. A balanced wine with beautiful, rich aromas.
Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 2014 is a classic wine from the area of Ribera del Duero. A red wine with a concentrated and fruity profile, where the black fruit perfectly integrates with the ageing time, resulting in a splendid wine.

Fresh and flavoursome. Balanced showing noble and well-defined tannins. Great character, long and perseverant.

Dark red with maroon trims. Very intense and bright. Dense tears.

Attractive and highly complex. It shows a permanent background of fruit, especially red, which is noticed along with some delicate notes of wood that provide it with smothness, notes provided by the oak (leather, roasted coffee, vanilla, toffee,...). Subtle balsamic touches that provide it with a touch of freshness.

Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial 2007 has a greedy and powerful attack. Soft, fleshy and nice mid palate, with a great presence of fruits along with creamy notes. Fine tannins. Concentrated and well balanced wine with a long and intense persistence.



Dark cherry colour trimmed with purple tones. Brilliant. Dense and quite slow legs.

This wine from Ribera del Duero has an intense and complex nose with a wide range of fruit aromas among which the notes of forest fruit and fine spices stand out. In the background, very elegant notes of vanilla, toffee, dairy products, chocolate and toasted are noticed. Some touches of balsamic and red peppers.
Fleshy mouth, round, structured, tannic power. Long and creamy finish.

Dark cherry color.

With an exceptional location in the "golden mile" of Ribera del Duero, next to the vineyards of Vega Sicilia, Abadía Retuerta, which is now part of the Novartis group, is not included in D.O. Ribera del Duero as it is just outside its limits, in the town of Sardón de Duero. This allows them to use varieties that are not admitted by the Regulatory Council of this denomination, and to produce wines of marked character, expressive, amiable, with their own style, modern and innovative, and with the unmistakable seal of Abadía Retuerta.
