About Allegrini Valpolicella
When we talk about an entry-level wine, we are talking about a wine that is perfect for those who are just starting out in this field. It is usually an accessible wine, which is easy to drink and understand, with flavours and characteristics that are typical of that style of wine. Allegrini Valpolicella it is an entry-level wine in more ways than one. On the one hand, it introduces us to the Valpolicella wine region, in the province of Verona (Veneto) as well as showing us the expertise of one of the families with the longest winemaking tradition in this area, in northeastern Italy, known for perfectly combining tradition with modernity. Its founder, Giovanni Allegrini, an intrepid winemaker who stood out for his passion, dedication and innovative vision, played a crucial role in the development and promotion of the region’s wines, and now his children continue the legacy in the same spirit.
With 100 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area, they present Allegrini Valpolicella, a red wine that brings together the native Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara varieties. Vines with an average age of 34 years old planted on slopes with volcanic soil at 180-280 metres above sea level. Harvested and selected by hand, in the winery fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25-31°C for about 9 days. Finally, the wine stays in these same steel tanks for 6 months and spends 2 more months in the bottle before being sold.
The bottle has been sealed since 2007 with a screw cap to avoid cork taint and random oxidation problems, and Allegrini Valpolicella has become a hallmark of Valpolicella. Allegrini’s entry-level wine that you’ll never want to move away from.
2022 | Allegrini Valpolicella 2022 is a smooth red wine that displays a captivating choreography of ripe cherry on the nose, intertwined with notes of black pepper that combine with soft medicinal herbal nuances. On the palate, its agility and juiciness are supported by vibrant acidity, culminating in a very harmonious dry finish. This wine embodies a fresh and tasty essence, a perfect invitation for those who want to start their journey through Valpolicella wines. |
